Mineral Wells area players dominate all-district team

Mineral Wells area High school softball players from Tolar, Santo, Graford and Perrin-Whitt dominated the 2008 District 9-1A Coaches’ All-District team.
The youthful Tolar Lady Rattlers won the district title and piled up 10 all-district team berths.
Tolar High School sophomore Chelsea Martin is the district’s Most Valuable Player while Lady Rattlers’ freshman Sarah Nelson earned Defensive MVP honors.
Tolar’s Tommy Cross is the District 9-1A Coach of the Year while Lady Rattlers freshman Morgan Walker is the Newcomer of the Year.
While Tolar had 10 all-district team selections, teams from Santo, Graford and Perrin-Whitt piled up a combined total of 15 all-district team berths.
The Santo Lady Wildcats finished in second place in district play and had six all-district team berths.
Lady Wildcats’ junior Kara Scott is the district’s Offensive Most Valuable Player.
Santo senior pitcher Brittnie Rash and sophomore infielder Becca Jones were each first-team all-district picks while freshman catcher Breley Seay, junior infielder Cassie Rice and senior outfielder Kori Edwards were each second-team all-district selections.
The youthful Graford Lady Jackrabbits finished in third place in the district race and placed four underclassmen on the all-district team.
Junior infielder Shelbie Pendergraft, sophomore catcher Elisha Lee and sophomore utility player Kelsey Hobbs represented the Lady Jackrabbits on the first team while sophomore outfielder Lacy Pendergraft was a second-team all-district team selection.
The Perrin-Whitt Lady Pirates finished in fourth place in the district race and placed five players on the all-district team.
Perrin-Whitt senior outfielder Kristen Martinez was a first-team all-district pick while sophomore utility player Victoria Franklin, freshman pitcher Jessica Francis, senior infielder Jennifer Singleton and junior outfielder Aimee Davis were each second-team all-district team selections.
