The Santo High School Wildcats baseball team is set to open the state playoffs.
The Wildcats are ready to play the Wolfe City High School Wolves in a best-of-three games area championship series on Friday and Saturday at Ponder High School.
Friday’s series opener is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
The second game of the series is slated at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Ponder, according to Wildcats head baseball coach Randy Thornton.
The third game of the series, if needed, will be played 30 minutes after the end of Saturday’s first game.
Notes ... Santo won a district championship and had a bye in the opening round of the state playoffs while Wolfe City took a 2-1 win over Collinsville in a bi-district series.
