MILLSAP — The Millsap Bulldogs football team has waited almost three years to open play at Bulldog Stadium.

On Sept. 19, the waiting will end when the Millsap Bulldogs play the Venus Bulldogs in the first game in the new stadium.

Millsap Independent School District Athletic Director Matt Adams said the Bulldogs and their fans are excited.

“It’s not going to be another Ram Stadium, but it’s going to be a nice one,” Adams said. “We’re all looking forward to playing in the new stadium.”

The new multi-purpose stadium at Millsap High School features a soon-to-be resurfaced eight-lane track and a natural grass playing field.

The stadium is part of a building program that cost in excess of $ 4 million.

“We’re also building six new classrooms and adding a new fieldhouse,” Adams said.

Adams said the first team of Bulldogs to play in the stadium will be different.

“They’re going to be a young and talented team,” Adams said. “It’s going to be different this year.”

The 2008 edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football picks the Millsap Bulldogs to finish in fifth place in District 9-2A play.

The publication picks the Paradise Panthers to take first place and the tradition-rich Boyd Yellow Jackets to finish in second place ahead of the Alvord Bulldogs.

The Jacksboro Tigers are picked fourth ahead of Millsap while the Chico Dragons are picked sixth.

The Bulldogs football team posted a 2-8 season record last fall under first-season head football coach Kyle Coker.
