Many contribute in Rams’ 40-26 sub-varsity win over the Porcupines

The Mineral Wells Rams junior varsity team defeated the Springtown JV, 40-26, in a Thursday night clash at Ram Stadium.

There were superlatives aplenty for Mineral Wells.

Jake “the Snake” Stine sparked the young Rams with an interception on the first defensive series. Ta’Marcus Carter jump-started the scoring spree with a 23-yard touchdown run. Keith Finley snagged a well-timed interception deep in Rams territory. Gunner Pederson scampered 47 yards for the Rams second touchdown of the evening.

The blanketing Ram defense forced two more turnovers that led to Ram touchdowns. Teddy Beavers caused a fumble recovered by Kaleb Cross.

Antonio Rodriguez tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Matt Grimes. Rodriguez then followed it up with a 2-point conversion.

Jorge Zermeno scored on a 1-yard run.

Emmanuel Sifuentes forced a fumble that Stine recovered, setting up the final score by Pederson on a 1-yard dive into the end zone.

Terrence Hardeman added two PATs on the night.

The Rams offensive line, consisting of Mike Chew, Preston Streun, Robert Jones, Casey Barham and Senen Gonzales, dominated the trenches the entire game.

“This win shows what hard work and teamwork can accomplish,” said coach Chad Barron. “Overall, this was a great team effort.”
