Edwards, Waters lead Lady 'Dogs past Lipan, 54-37

Ashleigh Edwards and Ashton Waters both scored into double figures Tuesday night and powered the Millsap Lady Bulldogs to a 54-37 victory over the Lipan Lady Indians.

With the win, Millsap extended its recent win streak to five straight games, dating back to the Graford PK Lake Invitational Tournament.

Offensively, Millsap struggled to get untracked early in the game. The Lady Bulldogs managed just six points in the first eight minutes of the contest.

Unfortunately for Lipan, the MHS defense had no such trouble. The Lady Bulldogs limited Lipan to just two shots from the floor in the first, and handed Millsap a 6-4 advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs, 7-2 for the season, came alive from there. Millsap outscored Lipan by a 15-9 margin in the second quarter and built a 21-13 halftime lead.

After battling to a 35-24 lead in the third, Millsap put the game away in the fourth. The Lady Bulldogs reeled off a 19-13 advantage in the final eight minutes to close out the win.

Edwards led all MHS scorers with 13. Waters tacked on 12 points and a team-high seven steals.

Libby Meeker also played well defensively, picking up six steals.
