Samuel Brazeal scored 45 points and pulled down 24 rebounds to lead the Community Christian School Warriors to a 100-43 win over Muskogee (Okla.) Boulevard Baptist Academy to take third place last weekend at the Tournament on the Brazos.
The 100 points scored is a school record, according to head coach Doug Jefferson.
Noah Dowdy, who scored 21 points in the third-place game, was selected to the all-tournament team.
The Warriors (8-3) led 24-10 after the opening period and built a 42-22 lead at the half.
CCS went on a 30-9 run in the third quarter to take a 72-31 lead as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
Also scoring for the Warriors were Isaiah Brazeal with 16 points, Levi Knowles with eight, Landon Payne and Jonathan Rives, each with four, and Hamilton Brookshire with to.
The Warriors began tournament play with a 43-19 win over Irving Stone Gate Christian Academy. The CCS defense was so strong that it held
SGCA to single digits in every quarter. The Warriors led 12-4 after the first quarter and 22-7 at the break.
CCS outscored SGCA 8-7 in the third period to take a 30-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
Samuel Brazeal led the Warriors with 25 points while also pulling down 13 rebounds. Also scoring for CCS were Isaiah Brazeal with eight points, Dowdy with seven and Knowles with two.
CCS fell to Flower Mound Grace Christian Academy, 50-27, in the second round of the tournament.
Dowdy led the Warriors with 13 points, with Samuel Brazeal adding eight to go along with 11 rebounds.
Also scoring for CCS were Rives, Knowles and Isaiah Brazeal, each with two points.
GCA led 10-8 after the opening period before going on a 22-7 run in the second quarter to take a 32-15 lead at the half.
GCA outscored CCS 6-4 in the third period to increase its lead to 38-19 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
