Lady Rams take two-match 6-3A winning streak to Kennedale today

By TONY EIERDAM

Continuing District 6-3A play, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams volleyball team has new-found confidence after a pair of victories as the squad heads into the second half of league play today at Kennedale.

The first serve will be at 6:30 p.m. with freshman and junior varsity matches set at 5 p.m.

Lady Rams head coach Taylor Eggleston said the winning streak and the fact the Lady Rams played Kennedale tough in the district opener will help the team believe they can defeat the Lady Kats.

The Lady Rams have defeated Lake Worth and Castleberry in their past two matches.

Lady Rams head coach Taylor Eggleston feels because her team played aggressive and strong against Kennedale in the first meeting that they will have the confidence to take a match from the Lady Kats.

Kennedale won the first meeting, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

“I hope the girls understand that I had a good taste in my mouth after the last time we played Kennedale, even though we lost,” Eggleston said. “The girls competed hard, and they proved to me that they could win that match.

“I had a good feeling about our team after that match.”

The Lady Kats – defending District 6-3A champions – are coming off a loss in four games Friday to Springtown. Eggleston hopes her team remains on a high and can take advantage of a Kennedale team that could still be nursing its Friday afternoon wounds.

“We have shown a little fire in our last two matches, and once the girls have gotten that spark they have played well,” Eggleston said. “I hope that fire comes back (today), and I hope they don’t have the mentality that Kennedale will win just because they are Kennedale.

“We are just as good as Kennedale, and we can beat them. I am hoping the girls share that same confidence, and I feel they will show up in Kennedale ready to compete.”

Eggleston said making adjustments on the fly will be key to a Lady Rams’ victory at Kennedale.

“When we make adjustments we need to do it faster,” she said. “We need to make the adjustments that will allow us to be more successful and get us the next point.”
