CCS Lady Warriors upset No. 2 Weatherford Christian

The Lady Warriors of Community Christian School upset the No. 2 TCAF Division II state ranked Weatherford Christian at home Thursday in volleyball action, 3-1.

The unexpected win has put CCS in a tie for second place.

“It was a really exciting night to compliment the Senior Night,” head coach Doug Jefferson said. “Seniors Summer Gage and Bethany Peoples used the added crowd and extra excitement to motivate their team to play their best game of the season so far.”

The Lady Warriors have battled through a very difficult District schedule which included TCAF Division II No. 1 Azle Christian and No. 2 Weatherford Christian.

Game 2 of the match was the most exciting part of the night as The Lady Warriors battled from a seven-point deficit to take the lead. The two teams battled back and forth as CCS won, 28-26, and the Lady Warriors followed with wins of 25-22 and 25-18 to seal the match.

Following the game the coaches of the district met for the All-District meeting. The starting six of CCS were all recognized.

Earning first-team honors from CCS were senior Bethany Peoples and junior Charly Mounce.

Second-team honors went to senior Summer Gage and juniors Jaci Snyder and Taylor Scott, and honorable mention went to junior Ashley Owens.
