SANTO – The Hico Tigers were a good Class 2A football team. They are now a very good Class 1A team, as scrappy Santo discovered Friday at W.A. Lewis Field.
Taking advantage of a large offensive line, the Tigers used a deceptive running game and big play passing game to win the District 5-A opener for both teams, 41-19. Hico (5-2, 1-0) has wins this year over Italy and Hillsboro.
