This weekend, June 28-29, Holiday Hills Country Club's Members Golf Association will host the first "Guys and Dolls" tournament of the season – a large tournament with a sizable cash prize.
The tournament is expected to feature a 61-team field with golfers from all over North Texas and payouts in prize money totaling more than $11,000.
"Our tournaments have a reputation for 'paying good,'" a HHCC representative said in a press release. "Our MGA events pay better prize money than most all other clubs. That's one of the reasons we get so many participants from all over North Texas."
The MGA relies on sponsor monies to achieve goals and pays most of the entry money back to the players. As of Thursday, HHCC had accumulated close to 50 sponsors that have paid a fee to be visible at all six MGA events in 2014.
The MGA hosts these events to raise money to strictly to sponsor projects to improve the local golf course.
"All of our money is spent outside," the press release said. "We are dedicated to the course and having great events."
The next large tournament on the horizon at HHCC is the MGA Three-person Scramble on July 26-27.
