Thirteen year old Grant Seay, son of Graford Elementary Principal, Wes Corzine, recently laid claim to the Possum Kingdom Lake Junior White Bass Record with a 1.60-pound catch.
The previous record for White Bass, commonly called Sand Bass by many Texans, was 1.20 pounds.
Grant caught his record fish while on a guided fishing trip with Possum Kingdom resident Barry Smith of P.K. Bassman Guide Service, the trip was a Christmas present for Grant and his brother Hunter Corzine.
Junior fishermen are 16 years old and under. The party had fished for strippers earlier in the day and decided to fish for Sandy’s about noon.
Grant was using a jigging spoon in the mid lake area when he hauled in his prize.
The Trading Post weighed the fish and certified the weight and the paperwork was forwarded on the Texas Parks & Wild Life who keeps the official record.
