Throughout the summer, the Mineral Wells Rams have been hard at work preparing for football season.
Participating in new head coach Gerald Perry's organized strength and conditioning program, players have placed emphasis on getting stronger and especially faster through a series of explosion-focused workouts.
Rams and Lady Rams from other sports have participated in the program as well.
“It’s very important that we all buy in," Perry said in a previous interview. "Our motto right now is ‘All In.’ We’re all invested in all of our sports.”
Mineral Wells football players have also participated in multiple seven-on-seven tournaments throughout the offseason.
Thursday, the Rams hosted the nearby Perrin-Whitt Pirates in a series of seven-on-seven games at Ram Stadium. The Rams won all three contests by scores of 14-13, 22-21 and 27-13.
Senior Caleb Acosta and sophomores Trent Guinn and Tristan Perry each split time at quarterback – continuing a three-way quarterback competition that coach Perry intends to last well into two-a-days. All three potential signal callers played well against the Pirates with no interceptions.
