ARLINGTON – Mineral Wells sophomore Scarlett Eaton shot an 87 to finish in first place Monday at the Kennedale Golf Tournament at Shady Valley Country Club.
Eaton’s 87 also helped the Lady Rams golf team to an overall total of 423 and the team championship of the tournament. The team will play this same course on Monday in the first round of the 36-hole District 6-3A tournament.
The Lady Rams defeated second-place Arlington Seguin (460) by 27 stokes. District-foe Kennedale came in third with a 471.
Other Lady rams’ scores include tara cooper with a 104, and Paige Crowley and Whitney Ratto, each with a 116.
The Rams placed eighth in the boys’ tournament with an overall total of 384. Arlington Martin (Black) won the tournament with a 330.
Rylie Hill led the rams with a 92, followed by Nick Wendt (95), Reece Tarver (96), Josh Hardee (101) and Conner Bradshaw (102).
MWHS boys playing as medalist included Aaron Cedillo (108) and Matthew Lawhon (113).
South Grand Prairie (340) finished second, with district foe Kennedale placing third (342).

As the window of the regular season creeps ever closer to an end, teams all across the state are making the final push for the playoffs with a lucky few in hopes of improving their final playoff seed. Both the Santo Wildcats (7-6, 6-3) and Gordon Longhorns (2-9, 2-7) pulled off wins in District 10-1A play by wide margins, Tuesday, to improve their district standing as the playoffs inch ever closer.

The Rams and Lady Rams track teams of Mineral Wells Junior High saw some strong individual performances at the district track meet, April 7-8.
Rams climb on
You can't keep a good team down for long and, as they have indicated this season, the Mineral Wells Rams (14-9, 5-1) are certainly a good team. Four days after a 4-0 loss to Castleberry, during which the Rams mustered only four hits, Mineral Wells came out with a vengeance against the Lake Worth Bullfrogs (2-18, 1-5), riding 10 hits to an 11-0 victory in four-and-a-half innings, Tuesday night, at Pratt Field.
