MINERAL WELLS —
FORT WORTH – Mineral Wells scored the first 50 points of the game as the Lady Rams junior varsity defeated Diamond Hill, 78-8, here Friday night in a District 6-3A contest.
The win raises the Lady Rams’ district mark to 3-0.
Kaleigh Aaron and Bre Hinojos each scored 12 points to lead the Lady Rams.
Also scoring were Tabi Santibanez with 11 points, Carson Couger and Scarlett Eaton, each with 10, Mason Malone and Addi Singleton, each with six, Rachell Merritt and Kera Harrison, each with four, Mariah Shuffield with two and Katie Rivera with one.
The Lady Rams led 28-0 after the first quarter and 50-0 at the half.
MWHS outscored Diamond Hill 8-4 in the third period to take a 58-4 lead into the fourth quarter.
Rams JV 50, DH 37
FORT WORTH – Coy Barrick scored 17 points and Mark Glover added 14 to lead the Mineral Wells Rams junior varsity to a 50-37 win over Diamond Hill here Friday night in the District 6-3A opener.
Also scoring were Braxton Allen with seven points, Devon Edmond and Conner Bradshaw, each with four, Dalton Mitchell with three and Dexter Cross with one.
MWHS jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and led 28-20 at the break. Each team scored 13 points in the third period as the Rams took a 41-33 lead into the fourth quarter.
Rams frosh 51, DH 26
FORT WORTH – Paced by a defense that allowed just single digits in each quarter, the Mineral Wells Rams freshman team defeated Diamond Hill, 51-26, in the District 6-3A opener here Friday.
Marvin Johnson scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Rams.
Also scoring were Lamont Wilson with 10 points, Tristan Seargeant with eight, Nigel Benavides with four, Connor Jacobson, Aaron Cedillo and Matthew Lawhon, each with two, and Branson Sanchez with one.
The Rams led 12-6 after the opening quarter and built a 23-12 lead at the half. MWHS went on a 16-6 run in the third period to take a 39-18 lead into the fourth quarter.
No. 5 Ladycats cruise
SANTO – Santo jumped out to a 24-2 lead on as the state-ranked No. 5 Ladycats cruised to a 78-16 win over Chico here Friday in a District 11-A game.
Sarah Van Remmen led Santo (21-3, 2-0) with 17 points, with Payton Billue adding 15.
Also scoring for the Ladycats were Breeana Raffaele with 13 points, Alyssa McKennon with 10, Taylor Nemeth and Chloe McGlaun, each with eight, Megan MacPherson with five and Courtney Flanagan with two.
Santo led 49-5 at the half and took a 69-13 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the junior varsity game, the Ladycats defeated Chico, 43-9, with Caylin Edwards leading Santo with 16 points.
Also scoring for Santo (12-2, 2-0) were Chasen Howard with 12 points, Jawnee Hess with five, Judy Pope with four, Reagan Raffaele, Letha Fowler and Callie Wharton, each with two.
Lady Hounds win
HUCKABAY – Jayde Price scored 20 points and Shelly Abbott added 16 to lead the state-ranked No. 7 Strawn Lady Hounds to a 55-28 win over Huckabay here Friday night in a District 17-A contest.
Also scoring for Strawn (21-5, 3-0) were Jacqueline Berumen with nine points, Eva de Gregorio with six and Tearany Atkins with four.
