LAKE WORTH – The Mineral Wells Rams won the District 6-3A championship on April 8 at Lake Worth.
The top two finishers in each event advance to the regional tournament in Lubbock.
Molly Clarke and Ty Taver placed first in mixed doubles with wins of 6-1, 6-1, against Lake Worth and Springtown, and 6-4,6-2 against Lake Worth in the title match.
Other MWHS regional qualifiers include the boys’ doubles team of Max Grider/Orlando Garcia, who won 6-1, 6-3 against Diamond Hill; 7-5, 6-4 against Springtown before falling 6-2, 6-3 to Springtown No. 1.
The pair qualified for regionals with a second-place finish after winning 6-4, 6-1 against Lake Worth in a play back.
Eric Parker won 6-1, 6-0 against Springtown, lost 6-0,6-2 to Kennedale, won 6-2, 6-1 against Springtown, but lost 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 in play back to finish third.
Mongomery/Merritt placed third in girls doubles, with McCauley/ Turk placing fourth.
The Class 3A, Region I tennis match will be held today and Thursday at the McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
The top two finishers in each event at the regional tournament advance to the state tournament in Austin.
The state tournament will be April 29-30 at the University of Texas.
