While still a work in progress, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams took three of five matches this past weekend at the Boswell tournament to raise their overall mark to 3-6.

The Lady Rams were the lone Class 3A school at the tournament that featured mainly schools from classes 4A and 5A.

MWHS will continue non-district play at home today in a dual match with Glen Rose and Class 4A Joshua.

Although a dual, the varsity matches will still be in a best-of-five format.

The Lady Rams will play Glen Rose at 4 p.m. to begin the three-match evening. Glen Rose will face Joshua in the second varsity match followed by the Lady Rams/Joshua match.

Lady Rams head coach Taylor Eggleston is still working with different combinations of players to try and find the players who work best together.

“We played some tough competition (at the Boswell tournament) against bigger schools,” Eggleston said. “There were some really high moments for us and we were able to string some good plays together.”

Last week after a loss to Millsap in the season opener, Eggleston said one area she needed to see immediate improvement in was serve receive. She was pleased in that area this past weekend.

“Our serve receive was one of our high points,” Eggleston said. “Sydney (Vasquez) also had some outstanding serves that had our opponents back on their heels.

“We are really working hard on blocking and getting a touch on every ball and I hope that continues (today).”
