TRENT – The Graford boys and girls track teams were in action, Thursday, at the area track meet in Trent, where two Jackrabbits qualified to advance to the regional round in two different events.
Both athletes were boys and grabbed silver medals in their respective events to head to the regional meet on a high note.
Quinten Tabor was the first Jackrabbit to qualify, finishing second in the two-mile run with a time of 11:50. Tabor also placed fifth in the triple jump, falling just shy of regional qualification.
Tanner Hargrove was Graford's other qualifier, crossing the finish line second in the mile run with a 5:40 mark.
Also placing in the mile and finishing just short of a regional berth was Ryan Carver, who took fifth.
The Graford girls saw one team member place when Esmerelda Balvantin took sixth in the shot put. She also competed in the 400 and 200 meters.
Other participants for Graford at the area track meet included:
• Leo Balvantin in the 400 meters.
• Petr Vopinka in the 800 meters.
• Lucas Simmons, Bryan Anderson, Luis Conde Fernandez and Ryan Carver in the 800-meter relay.
• Robyn Hunsinger in the 800 meters and 1 mile.
Graford's regional tournament will take place this weekend in San Angelo.
