Lady Rams 8th A team wins
On Thursday, the 8th Grade A-team Lady Rams defeated the Everman Lady Bulldogs in three games at the MWJH gym.
The Lady Rams combined for over 60 offensive spikes and over 100 good passes for the big win.
Leading the Lady Rams in passes to target were Sunni Lemley and Madison Gibbs, each with over 40 good passes, followed by Kaylee Gregory, Pond Blackmer and Beatriz Martinez, each with over 25 good passes.
Leading the Lady Rams in spikes were Sunni Lemley, Kaylee Gregory, Madison Gibbs and Cali Pilgrim, each with over 10 hits for the game including the game winning kill shot by setter Madison Gibbs.
Sunni Lemley led at the service line with 19 service points for the match, including seven aces in a row to put the Lady Rams ahead in the third match.
8th C also wins
The Lady Rams eighth-grade “C” team also played very well last night and defeated the Everman Bulldogs in three games.
Leading the Lady Rams in good passes were Kambri Graue with nine, and Kelsey Davis, Destiny Cervantez and Kylah Carter each with five.
Leading the Lady Rams in service points were Raelynn Westbrook with a whopping 17, followed by Kambri Graue with nine.
Destiny Cervantez, Paige Johnson and Dametria Davila each recorded five service points.
Hitting well for the Lady Rams were Destiny Cervantez and Paige Johnson, each with two kills, followed by Courtney Reed, Kelsey Davis, MacKenzie Williams and Kambri Graue, each with one.
7th ladies sweep Everman
All three MWJH seventh-grade volleyball teams earned victories Thursday at Everman.
Starting off the night with the first win, was the Lady Ram “C” team winning in two matches, 25-20, 25-17. Leading the team with passes to target was Sunny Hopkins with five passes, five service points and one ace. Leading the team with points was Reagan Waddy with nine, and she also had three passes to target.
Keeping with the pace, the B-Team had three games, but pulled it out in the third game for their victory over Everman, 25-15, 18-25 and 25-18.
These girls were lead by Sierra Hall with three passes, nine serves, two aces and three hits. Followed closely by Rachel Carter with six passes to target, four service points, four ace serves, two hits and two kills and Kassidy Austin with five passes to target and seven service points.
Ending the night for the Lady Rams was the “A” team in a victory over Everman, 25-23, 25-22.
“These ladies fought hard with determination and hard work,” Williams said.
Leading the way to victory was Terra Newsom with 18 passes to target, three good serves and two aces. Leading the team in scoring was Brooklyn Lovern with nine service points, one ace, one hit, one kill and nine passes to target.
MWJH “B” team scores late for win
The Mineral Wells Junior High School seventh-grade “B” team defeated Brewer, 24-20, Tuesday at Ram Stadium.
The Rams scored on a drive late in the game to win. Touchdowns were scored by Angel Batrez, Irving Batrez, and Khalil Thomspon.
The Rams C team dropped a 26-22 decision to Brewer. Touchdowns were scored by Brady Huseman, Edgar Tejeda and Josue Valle. Valle also had a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
The Rams “A” team fell, 24-0. The Rams were led by the rushing attack of Brandon Hinojos.
8th grade teams fall at Brewer
The Rams “C” team was defeated by Brewer, 34-8, Tuesday at Brewer.
The touchdown was scored by Jason Hite. Damon Musser scored the two-point conversion. Coaches report Musser ran the ball hard, along with Andrew Russell. Jason Hite looked great throwing the ball, connecting on 3 long passes to Andrew Russell.
The Rams “B” team lost a 14-6 heartbreaker. The touchdown was scored by Adam Garcia on a pass from Trevor Haubert.
Coaches report the defense gave a great effort in this game. In the end, the team came up just short.
The Rams “A” team fell, 36-0.
Coaches report James Gonzales ran the ball hard, but the toughest run of the game went to Levis Aragon as he dragged a herd of Bear defenders with him for about a 30 yard gain.
The Mineral Wells Junior High School football teams will conclude their respective seasons today, while area high school girls’ basketball teams will begin their seasons.
The Rams eighth-grade teams will play Everman at Ram Stadium. The “C” game will kick off at 5 p.m. followed by the “B” and “A” contests.
The Rams seventh-grade teams will play at Everman with the “C” contest beginning at 5 p.m. followed by the “B” and “A” games.
