The Mineral Wells Lady Rams soccer team dropped to 5-7-1, Monday night, after a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Boswell Pioneers in Ram Stadium.
The loss eliminated Mineral Wells from playoff contention, with only one game remaining on the regular season schedule.
Goalie Brittany Smith turned in a solid performance, saving 22 of the Pioneers' 23 shots on goal. The sole goal of the game slipped past Smith on a high shot at the 23:32 mark in the second half.
Unfortunately for the Lady Rams, a 95.7-percent save percentage was not enough, as the Mineral Wells offense was largely stymied. The Lady Rams only managed three shots on goal, four shots total, for the entire game.
The first two came early, from Breanna Hinojos three-and-a-half minutes into the game and a minute-and-a-half later off the foot of Erin McGuire. But the Lady Rams slumped into a shooting drought lasting roughly an hour and ten minutes of game time before Kylie Burke managed Mineral Wells' third and final shot on goal with five minutes left in the game.
With the Lady Rams' loss, Brewer clinched fourth place in the district and the final playoff opening. Mineral Wells will travel to Brewer, Tuesday, to face the Lady Bears in their regular season finale.
