After the first 18 holes of the District 6-3A Tournament, the Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams golf teams both sit at second place in the tourney with 18 holes left to play.
On Monday, March 24, at Shady Valley golf course, the Rams shot 382, as a team, while the Lady Rams posted a score of 496.
The Lady Rams find themselves 13 shots out of first place, largely thanks to the effort of Scarlett Eaton.
Shooting 87, Eaton was the only female golfer in the tournament to not shoot in the triple-digits, putting her at the front of the pack for an individual district championship. She also had the second-best day of any Mineral Wells golfer – behind only Reece Tarver, who shot an 84.
The rest of the Lady Rams' scores were Kaleigh Aaron at 131, Whitney Ratto at 134 and Kenzi Huseman at 147.
Tarver's 84 led the Rams and put him in second place, just four shots behind the leader for the district title out of Kennedale.
The rest of the Rams were Nick Wendt with 92, Josh Hardee with 96, Aaron Cedillo with 110 and Connor Bradshaw with 114. Outside of the team competition, Matt Lawhorn shot a 115.
The Rams will be back on the course Thursday for a tournament at Sherill Park in Richardson before both the boys' and girls' teams finish the district tournament at Glen Garden in Fort Worth, April 7.
Regionals will be at Shadow Hills, in Lubbock, April 14-17.
Head coach Tommy Fincher said he wanted to thank Mineral Wells' Holiday Hills Country Club for their support throughout the season and allowing his golfers to practice and play on their course.
