Still a work in progress, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams volleyball team will continue non-district play today at 6:30 p.m. at Azle.
The Lady Rams are coming off a three-win weekend and have an overall mark of 6-11.
All three MWHS volleyball teams won at Fort Worth Southwest on Friday, and at the Glen Rose tournament the Lady Rams defeated Class 5A Arlington Sam Houston and Tolar. MWHS dropped matches at the Glen Rose tournament to Godley, Cleburne and Burnet.
The Lady Rams will have an opportunity to extract revenge on Godley as MWHS hosts the Lady Cats Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the MWHS gym.
MWHS head coach Taylor Eggleston is still searching for the right combinations and heated competition on the front row is still ongoing.
But the coach has plenty of time and many matches remaining to sort out who she wants to go with exclusively when the Lady Rams open District 6-3A play on Sept. 27 at home against defending district champion Kennedale.
Eggleston was pleased to see three of her returning varsity members – senior libero Bethany Allen, senior setter Erin Burgeson and senior hitter Ashlynn Robinson – have productive play over the weekend.
"Erin and Bethany had some great serves,” Eggleston said. “We are always looking to improve in our service game and Erin and Bethany really helped us out.
“I also thought Ashlynn was very productive at the net.”
The Lady Rams will switch the schedule around at home on Friday. After the varsity match at 4:30 p.m., the freshman and junior varsity teams will play at approximately 6 p.m.
