All three Mineral Wells Junior High School eighth-grade football teams fell at home to Granbury Acton on Tuesday at Ram Stadium.
The “C” team fell 26-8. The Rams’ touchdown was scored by Jason Hite. Joshua Almanza had a two-point conversion and led the team in rushing.
The “B” team fell 28-0.
“The stand out player was Adam Garcia on defense’” coach Taylor Tomlin said.
The “A” team dropped a 35-14 decision.
“There were many great plays in the game including long runs by Orlando Valley, a deep pass from Seth Slack to Mark King, and a touchdown pass from Slack to Carlos Gray,” Tomlin said. Orlando Valley also scored a touchdown for the Rams, and James Gonzalez punched it in for the two point-conversion.
“We saw some good things this week that we can build on,” Tomlin said. “We will keep getting better and come out next week to play Joshua.”
Rams 7th go 0-2-1 at Granbury
GRANBURY – In football action Tuesday at Granbury, the Mineral Wells Junior High School Rams seventh-grade “A” and “C” teams fell to Granbury Acton while the “B” team played Acton to a tie.
The “C” team fell by a 14-10 count. The Rams’ touchdown was scored by Brady Huseman.
The “B” team and Acton played to an 8-8 tie. The Rams’ touchdown was scored by Caleb Merrill on a 60-plus yard touchdown reception.
The “A” team lost a hard fought game, 22-16. The Rams’ touchdowns were scored by Brandon Hinojos, and the two-point conversions were scored by Brandon SanMiguel.
On Tuesday, the Rams seventh-grade teams will host Joshua, while the eighth-grade teams travel to Joshua.
The “C” games will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the “B” and “A games.
