GRAFORD – Tyler Wimberly scored 12 points and added three assists and three steals to lead the Graford Lady Rabbits to a 53-14 win over Newcastle here Friday night in a District 11-A game.

“I thought we really came out focused and were able to jump on them early,” Lady Rabbits head coach Jarod Westmoreland said. “Ashley Hay had two big three-pointers early and played a good game overall.

“Glad to be 3-0, but we have a huge game against Throckmorton (today).”

Also scoring for Graford (12-10, 3-0) Ashley Hay with 11 points, Erika Chemello with eight, Sydney Wimberly with seven, Morgan Hendershott with six, Ashly Rogers with five, and Katie Rochelle and Ali Brown, each with two.

Brown led on the boards with seven rebounds, with Sydney Wimberly adding four assists and four steals. Chemello finished with three assists, and Hendershott grabbed three rebounds.

Graford led 19-0 after the first quarter and 33-6 at the half. The Lady Rabbits outscored Newcastle 10-9 in the third period to take a 43-15 lead into the fourth quarter.

Santo 7th ladies fall

GARNER – On Thursday, the Santo seventh-grade Ladycats fell to Garner, 32-22.

Cheyenne Jones led the Ladycats with eight points, with Victoria Gilbreath adding seven.

Also scoring for Santo (5-2) were Jill Johnson with five points and Madi Elliot with two.

Santo led 12-11 at the half, but Garner went on an 11-3 run in the third period to take a 22-15 lead into the fourth quarter.

Brock downs Santo 8th ladies

BROCK – On Thursday, Brock used a 7-1 run in the third quarter to break open a close game as the Lady Eagles defeated the Santo eighth grade Ladycats, 25-16.

Sadie Gann led the Ladycats with seven points, with Sage Sparks adding four.

Also scoring for Santo (5-2) were Makaylee Steiner with three points and Charly Barton with two.

Brock led 5-4 after the first quarter and 16-10 at the half before taking a 23-11 lead into the fourth quarter.
