Price scores 47 in Strawn victory

ABILENE – State-ranked No. 7 Strawn post Jayde Price scored 47 points and grabbed 20 rebounds to lead the Lady Hounds to a 79-64 victory over Abilene Christian High School here Tuesday night.

Also scoring for Strawn (7-3) were Jacqueline Berumen with 13 points, Shelly Abbott with nine, Cori Pollock with eight and Eva De Gregorio with two.

Also, Abbott had a game-high 15 assists and Berumen had six steals.

Santo girls cruise

DE LEON – Santo post Sarah Van Remmen scored a game-high 22 points and Courtney Flanagan added 13 to lead the state-ranked No. 5 Ladycats to a 65-31 victory over De Leon here Tuesday night.

The win elevates the Ladycats’ mark to 8-1.

“The team is progressing,” Ladycats head coach Tony Raffaele said. “We are still working on not allowing second shots for the opponent, which means better block outs on defense.”

Also scoring for Santo were Breeana Raffaele and Alyssa McKennon, each with eight points, Payton Billue with six, Taylor Nemeth with four, and Kristy Trammel and Chloe McGlaun, each with two.

The Santo junior varsity defeated De Leon, 42-31, as Chasen Howard and Reagan Raffaele each scored 10 points to lead the Ladycats.

Also scoring for the JV Ladycats (6-1) were Jawnee Hess with nine points, Calli Wharton with eight and Caylin Edwards with five.

Jacksboro edges Bulldogs, 49-48

MILLSAP – Jacksboro slipped past the Millsap Bulldogs, 49-48, here Tuesday.

Dalyn Clanin scored 14 points to lead Millsap, with Michael Rogers grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds.

Other Millsap scoring totals include Aaron Peninger with 11 points, and Jaxon Martin and Bobby Nolen, each with eight.

‘Rabbits suffer first loss of season

HUCKABAY – Huckabay handed the Graford Jackrabbits their first loss of the season Tuesday with a 73-60 win.

The loss drops Graford, which had beaten Huckabay in the championship game of their own tournament on Nov. 17, to 5-1.

Graford was down by 20 points in the third quarter before going on a 22-02 run to tie the game.

But Huckabay recovered to take the win.

Post Pepe Paz led Graford with 29 points, with Quinten Tabor adding 10.
