MW golf teams in second, halfway through district tourney
After the first 18 holes of the District 6-3A Tournament, the Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams golf teams both sit at second place in the tourney with 18 holes left to play.
MW track team in action in Boyd, send two to Texas Relays
The Mineral Wells track and field team had a busy weekend, with athletes taking the blocks both at the Boyd Relays and the Texas Relays in Austin.
KENNEDALE – It was like something out of a dream or a movie. McCain Mason played with a bloody thigh, Braxton Allen pitched a complete game, Frank Jackson and Chris Ortiz sparked the offense and, for the first time in recent history, the Mineral Wells Rams (13-8, 4-0) beat the Kennedale Wildcats, 5-4, Friday night, to put themselves all alone in first place in District 6-3A.
Lady Rams fall short in Kennedale for first district loss
KENNEDALE – Despite a fast start, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams (20-6, 4-1) fell short against the Kennedale Lady Kats, 8-3, Friday night, in a battle of unbeatens for first place in District 6-3A at the midway point of the league season.
On the back of some dominant pitching, the Mineral Wells Rams (12-8) stomped rival Springtown in style Tuesday night, earning a 5-1 win in front of a home crowd at Pratt Field to improve to 3-0 in District 6-3A.
Stephens leads Lady Rams past Pojo with near no-no
On a chilly Tuesday night, Allie Stephens brought the heat in Mineral Wells.
Pitching in her second consecutive start, the junior overcame five walks and a hit batter to hold rival Springtown hitless through the first five innings, en route to a 10-3 victory for the Lady Rams (20-5) at Kessler Field.
TRACK: MW girls nab third, boys fourth at Pojo relays
SPRINGTOWN – The Mineral Wells Rams and Lady Rams track teams came away from the Pojo Relays over the weekend in Springtown, with a strong showing as the varsity girls grabbed third place with 81 points and the varsity boys, fourth place with 73 points.
Edwards’ All-American season nets Lady Saints ACCA title
A 2012 graduate from Millsap High School, Ashleigh Edwards continued her student-athletic career at the next level, and is still reaping the benefits of hard work in the classroom and on the basketball court.
Going out with a bang
Basketball fans and families were in for a treat, Saturday afternoon, as they flocked from all around the 14-county surrounding area to the Mineral Wells High School Gym for the 25th annual Chicken Express All-Star Basketball Classic.
