Catching our breath after hectic Christmas activities

As we catch our breathes from all of the activity that Christmas time brought, we are sitting back and enjoying the good memories that getting together with family and friends brings us.

Members of the Millsap VFD have some of those great memories to bask in as they look back on their Annual 2013 Family Appreciation Dinner.

The firefighters and their families met at Antonio’s in Weatherford for a time of relaxation and fun.

Everyone had smiles on their faces, as grown-ups and kids alike enjoyed the great food and visiting.

The firefighters take this opportunity to show their families how much they love them and that they appreciate their support.

During the party each member was honored with the gifts of an engraved rescue knife and personalized cap showing years of service.

While this was a carefree time the department is always moving on with the seriousness of their job.

In this vein, an officers election was recently held and the same men were re-elected.

They are Chief Neal Doss, Assistant Chief Jeff Edwards, Assistant Chief Franco Ortiz, Captain Scott Anderson, Captain Lee Van Dyke, Secretary Mark Anderson, Lieutenant Eric Peninger, and Lieutenant Ronnie Rutledge.

Glad you all had a wonderful party, and congrats to all of the newly elected officers.

With the new year almost here, it’s going to be Income Tax time, and the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program will need volunteers to assist area residents with their tax returns.

This is a free service and there will be area five locations to staff from Feb. 1 to April 15.

The locations will be the Weatherford Library, the Mineral Wells Boyce Ditto Library, the Mineral Wells Senior Center, the Azle Library, and the Azle Senior Center.

Tax Volunteers will receive free training during January.

    MILLSAP – Everything looks so pretty and green after the rain. While we enjoy this beauty along our roadways there is a need to keep them clean. Adopt a Country Road Parker County is an organization that provides a way to help with this.
