MILLSAP – With all of the rain come thoughts of shooting fireworks on July 4th. Our neighbors down south in the Mountain River development have big plans in this vein.
At about 10 a.m. on Friday the 4th there will be a parade in their area. The homeowners association plans a fireworks display. The show will start around dusk and can be seen for miles around. Some from Millsap go to the celebration as they have family or friends who issue them a special invitation to the event. This has become a yearly tradition, and is always looked forward to by the residents of Mountain River and neighboring Soda Springs.
July 2 will be the regular meeting day of the Millsap Neighborhood Ladies Home and Garden Club. The women have put together over fifty patriotic goody bags which they will deliver to various people in the area during their meeting time. The ladies remember shut-ins, seniors, nursing home residents, and others who need cheering up. This is a very thoughtful gesture, and just one of the many service projects that this club does.
Get well wishes go out to Garner resident Hazel Coleson who is in rehab recovering from a fractured hip. Doug Newberry of the Newberry community is also suffering a hip fracture and we wish him a speedy recovery!
As June 29 will be a fifth Sunday, area churches will be enjoying special fellowship and services. The Millsap Methodist congregation will gather for a brunch at 8 a.m. before their morning service. Midpoint Chapel folks will have a special time of devotion before enjoying lunch together. Worship service starts at 11 a.m. Soda Springs Baptist will have a singing at 6 p.m. All of these endeavors are sure to be edifying.
Everyone is invited to the monthly singing at Holders Chapel, 501 Holders Chapel Road, Cool. It will be Saturday, July 5, 6-8 p.m., and is free. We hear many reports that the musical is always enjoyable and that there are many talented singers and musicians who perform. This would be a good way to spend a Saturday evening.
May you have a safe and happy July 4th.
