MILLSAP – It’s getting the time of year for reunions of all kinds, and one great place around here to have them is the Millsap Community Center.

Recently given a complete makeover, it is absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. There is a very faithful Community Center Board of Officers, which sees to all of the details necessary to make this building accessible to everyone.

On Feb. 21, this group met to discuss many aspects of the center. Decisions made were that an annual meeting will be held the third Monday in January at 7 p.m. Also a change was made in rental fees. There will be no half-day rentals booked after Feb. 21, only a flat fee $60, regardless of hours used.  Any half-day bookings made prior to Feb. 21 will be honored. For reservations call (940) 682-2071.  The Community Cookbook is still in the works, and recipes along with reminiscences can be mailed to either P.O. Box 127 or 410 W.W. Lane, Millsap, TX 76066. It takes a lot of planning and work to keep the building and grounds in such good condition, and we are thankful for those who take a part in doing this for the area.

Over at Walden’s Farm and Ranch Supply things are literally hopping, as the have dozens of baby chicks in. There is a detailed list available at the store for specific dates that certain breeds will arrive, plus a seminar, “Backyard Flock: How to Control Your Own Food Supply,” will be held March 3 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Mineral Wells store, 196 Garrett Morris Parkway. Their spring consignment auction is set for April 30, and the Parker County Abandoned Cemetery Association will have a bake sale in the store that day. As the community usually choses this date to have area yard sales and other activities, be sure to mark your calendars now.

Condolences to the family of Roxanne Crosslin, who recently passed away. This family was a very active part of Millsap for years, with husband Joe managing the co-op. Mrs. Crosslin’s daughter represents the Geeo family, of Soda Springs, and MeeMaw,as she was lovingly called, will be very much missed by all family members.

Several of our churches are very busy with service projects. The Millsap Baptist Church, with included donations from other churches, sponsors a food pantry, which is open Tuesdays. The Methodist church has a new clothes closet, which is open the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. There is a charge of 25 cents for each item of clothing. Newberry Presbyterian also distributes food to families in need on a quarterly basis.

Around here its always “people helping people,” making our area a very gracious and wonderful place to live.

Thanks for reading!
