MILLSAP – With April just around the corner the Millsap Heritage Society is busy preparing for the upcoming Log Cabin Days Festival. The two-day event is a highlight of springtime for our area.
On Friday, May 9, fourth graders from Millsap and Garner will have an educational day on the grounds of Heritage Park, which will include touring the cabins and enjoying a variety of old-fashioned experiences.
Saturday, May 10, will be a full-day of activities for the public beginning at 7 a.m. with a free campfire breakfast. There will be food, music and booths galore, plus demonstrations and displays.
Booths are available for $20, or $25 with electricity, by calling 940-682-5331 or 940-353-7160. Everyone is welcome to what is always a wonderful event in downtown Millsap.
Ashleigh Edwards, a 2012 Millsap graduate, is doing astonishing things in the world of college basketball. She attends Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College in Moore, Okla., and plays for their Lady Saints.
As a player for one of the top basketball programs in the nation, Edwards was the starting post player for the Saints this season. She was the second-leading scorer and one of the team’s top rebounders for the season.
Her hard work paid off when she was recognized as First Team All-Conference in the Southwest Conference of the National Christian College Athletic Conference (NCCAA). She was also awarded First Team All-American in the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA).
Her team won their third-straight ACCA National Championship in Joplin, Mo. A highlight of this win was Ashleigh got to cut down the net as part of winning this championship.
She has also been recognized as a Second Team All-American with the NCCAA, and is one of only three freshmen players to receive this honor. Proud family members from Millsap include parents, Jeff and Donna Edwards, and grandparents, Jimmy and Carla Clary. Congratulations, Ashleigh, on all of these inspiring accomplishments!
