Lots of spring goings-on down Millsap way

Recognition is in order to the three top-ranking Millsap seniors of 2013. The valedictorian is Bobby Nolen with a GPA of 100.89, and Salutatorian Sarah Mahan finishes with a GPA of 100.59. The third-ranking senior is Lauren Power, who is also MHS Female Athlete of the Year. On that note, Lauren has signed a national note of intent to play volleyball for Vernon College. Each of these young people are to be commended for all of the hard work that resulted in these achievements. Congratulations to each of you!

As we get into June a big event that is on the horizon is the 66th Annual Parker County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo. From June 12-15 there will be nightly performances beginning at 7:30 p.m., and the parade will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday (the 12th).

Some other special events surrounding the rodeo include the Junior Livestock Show on Friday and the Livestock Sale on Saturday. In a show of gratitude to the military, veterans with ID will be admitted free to the rodeo as will active military in uniform along with their spouses. This should all be a lot of fun in the grand old western tradition!

With Millsap kids out of school for the summer, Millsap First Baptist Church invites them to VBS June 10-14, 6-8:40 p.m.

Another activity June 24-27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., is the Millsap ISD Basketball Camp for K-incoming ninth-graders. The theme is Fundamental Skills Training and Bulldog Head Coach Andy Hudson will direct the camp. Cost is $75 per camper, or a family rate of $50 per camper, and this includes lunch. Kids can be pre-registered at ahudson@millsapisd.net

It's great to have good, wholesome activities for kids to enjoy during their vacations.
