As we move along in the month of April one big Parker County event that made front page news had great results for one of our local ladies.
Congratulations to Mrs. JuanEtta Gilbert on being named first runner-up in the 12th Annual Ms. Senior Parker County Pageant!
JuanEtta was Ms. Millsap Garden Club and did a fantastic job in evening wear and interview at the competition held at Weatherford College. To top it all off, our contestant was the winner of the talent portion of the event.
Her comedic skit of Maxine, the advice columnist, had the packed house roaring with laughter.
Mrs. Gilbert had some great support in this endeavor, with the profits going to Meals on Wheels, and we are extremely proud of her for representing our community.
Also, on the other side of the competition, Millsapian and Precinct 3 County Commissioner Larry Walden graciously lent his time to the pageant as one of the judges. A great evening for a worthy cause, and congrats to Ms. Senior Parker County 2013 Billie June Cox.
As we look into May, Millsap ISD school-board elections will be held on Saturday, May 11, at the Millsap Community Center. Early voting will also take place there April 29-May 7, on weekdays, with hours fluctuating, day to day, 7 or 8 a.m. to 5 or 7 p.m. There are two seats open for a three year term. The candidates are Tommy Lucia, Jerry Walker and Timothy Kukuk.
Also on the same date the Log Cabin Days Festival will be taking place on the cabin grounds and the Millsap High School prom will be held at Clark Gardens in the evening. A very busy day!
Speaking of the Log Cabin Days Festival one of the best parts of the event will happen on Friday, May 10, when the fourth-grade students from Millsap and Garner have learning day.
