Here’s an event that people around Millsap will want to mark their calendars to attend. As has been written about in headline news; Precinct 3 Commissioner Larry Walden is conducting stakeholder meetings across the county during the months of February-March. Residents are invited to come and give input for goal-setting and in the series of meetings policies are looked at to help with long-term goals. Also, there is discussion of how precincts operate and how property tax money is spent. There have been four meetings scheduled and locations included the Greenwood area, Brock and ESD No. 6 Fire Station, on Granbury Highway, in Weatherford. The fourth meeting will be at the Millsap Community Center on March 7 at 7 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to come out and have your voice heard about a myriad of issues that involve our county. Commissioner Walden is to be applauded on this endeavor.
The Millsap Heritage Society had elections in their regular monthly meeting and listened to a very informative guest speaker. Officers for this year are President Greg Boyd, Vice-President Michael Kinman and Secretary/Treasurer Teresa Howard. Chairpersons for the Log Cabin Days Festival are Melvin Davis and Jo Ann Barnhart. Guest speaker was rancher Tom Sanders who gave a presentation on antique fences. As the group has a goal to put up lengths of fence representing each of the log cabins’ eras of construction, this was a very helpful talk. The club is also already making preparations for the Log Cabin Days Festival, which will be May 11. They are ready to begin rentals for booth spaces. For more information call (940) 682-4402. This group continues to help make the cabin grounds better and we appreciate them.
Alumni of Millsap schools are preparing for the annual homecoming April 27. The Class of 1963 will be specially honored as the 50-year class. The reunion will be held in a new location – Millsap Elementary School. As more information becomes available, we will let you know.
Reminder: The Millsap Community Center Board invites everyone to a general meeting at the center at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
