Millsap students have it ‘made in the shade’

As the weather turns toward fall and cooler temperatures many folks around here are planting vegetables which they are hoping to harvest before the first frost, which is typically in mid-November. Others are working toward getting foliage in shape for the brutal winter months. With this in mind there is informational help available for any questions or concerns through the Parker County Master Gardeners. This is an educational and volunteer program sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service of the Texas A&M  University System. The gardeners have received instructions in a wide variety of topics. In exchange they volunteer time at the Texas AgriLife Service Office. The group also has many projects in the surrounding area and one of these is the National Vietnam War Museum Gardens. They volunteer Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. at the Extension Office at 604 North Main Street Suite 200, Weatherford; or they are available by phone for any gardening or landscaping questions by calling 817-598-6096 or 817-598-6168. This is a great source to help get the best use out of your plants.

The Millsap VFD is looking for a local brick layer to assist them with a small project at the station.  Please contact them if you know of someone that can help them out. Call 940-682-4390 or email millsapfd@embarqmail.com. They always appreciate all help.

Millsap 5th-grade parents need to know that Camp Grady Spruce dates have been changed.  The students will attend Sept. 17-20. There will be a parents meeting Aug. 29, 6 p.m., at the Elementary Cafeteria.
