Nancy Byler, state president of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, from Brownwood, spoke at the Oct. 17 meeting of the Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers Association meeting.

Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers Association met Oct. 17 at Holiday Hills Country Club for their monthly meeting. 

Nancy Byler, state president of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, from Brownwood, spoke to the group. She encouraged everyone to each add one additional member to the organization, research candidates running for political offices, attend a health care seminar, and seriously consider attending the TRTA State Convention in the spring.

PPCRTA was pleased to have as special guests four area superintendents from Mineral Wells, Graford, Garner and Strawn. 

Bata Boyd spoke about plans for the silent auction in January to earn money for the scholarship fund. 

Cecilia Staten mentioned that plans are in progress for the book drive in order to give books to the first, third and fifth graders in the county. 

The next meeting of the organization is Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Holiday Hills Country Club.  The program will be ICE. Please come and bring a friend.
