SANTO – A Tulsa, Okla., man was killed following a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday at Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 281 South.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, around 3:30 p.m. a 2009 Kia Optima driven by Brent David Chesbro, 27, was eastbound on I-20 when it began traveling in the center median. Continuing eastbound, the car then traveled off the embankment where I-20 crosses over U.S. 281.
The vehicle went airborne for a short distance, according to the report, and struck a concrete pillar supporting the overpass. The vehicle caught fire and partially burned.
A DPS spokesman said it was unclear why the vehicle left the roadway.
Chesbro was pronounced deceased at the scene by Palo Pinto County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Todd Baker.
