Mary Louis Turner 91, of Mineral Wells, passed away at a care facility in Fort Worth on Dec. 27, 2013. Mary was born in Roanoke, Texas the daughter of the late Anson and Josephine (Prewitt) Cannon. She met the love of her life Jess N. Turner Jr. and married him on April 4, 1942 in Fort Worth. She attended TWC in Fort Worth and together she and her husband built a business; Palo Pinto Telephone Co., her main duties there were as bookkeeper.
She was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church of Mineral Wells. Was a former member of the Palo Pinto General Hospital Auxiliary, Palo Pinto County Porcelain Art Club, Lost Valley Porcelain Art Club, Holliday Hills Country Club and Ladies Golf Association and a former organist of Palo Pinto Methodist Church. When Mary had some free time she enjoyed golf, bridge, computer (genealogy and writing) flowers and time outdoors. She stayed active playing golf; at age 80 she had a hole-in-one and played until she was 84.
Survivors are: Husband Jess N. Turner; son Jess and wife Kaye Turner; daughter Laura and husband Tom Blong and daughter Patricia Ann Turner; grandchildren Derek Turner, Keri and husband Ricky Stuart, Jared and wife Lori Blong and Jodi and husband Koby Hatch; great-grandchildren Trey Stuart, Merritt, Caleb and Jess Blong, Avery and Will Turner; sister and brother-in-law Inez and Mc Howe and brother Charles Turner. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First United Methodist Church or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, North Central Texas Chapter, 4086 Sandshell Drive, Fort Worth, Texas, 76137 or any charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells.
