Norman L. Dickson, 71, went home to be with the Lord Thursday following a lengthy illness.
Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, 4-6 p.m., at Edwards Funeral Home, Strawn, Texas. Funeral Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church Gordon, Texas, with burial in the Doty Cemetery near Gordon, Texas.
Norman was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Gordon, to James M. Dickson and Lillie Holder Dickson. He graduated from Gordon High School, Class of 1961.
He retired from Palo Pinto County, and was a member of First United Methodist Church Gordon and the Gordon Fire Department. He loved to dance with his wife, Uveila, better known as “Sam,” who preceded him in death in 2001. He liked bull riding and his dog, Smokey.
He is survived by two sons: Buddy Davis and wife, Marie, and Randy Davis; and two brothers: Rayburn Dickson and wife, Bonnie, and Albert Dickson and wife, Shirley; a sister, Eleanor Stockstill, and husband, Stockey. Also, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Uveila (Sam) Dickson; and brothers: LeJeune Dickson and Thomas Dickson; and sisters: Jeannie Dutra and Johnie Hanson.
The family requests memorials be made to Gordon Fire Department and EMS in lieu of flowers.
