BATON ROUGE, La. – Dora Evalyn Tabb, 88, of Baton Rouge, La., died June 8, 2014.
A memorial service is 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.
Evalyn was born on June 17, 1925 in Fort Worth. Her parents were Charles and Lula Eason, from Alvord, Texas. Evalyn was married to Morris Tabb, from Mount Pleasant, Texas. She attended Decatur Baptist College, North Texas University and Tarleton State University, where she received her Master’s of Education. Evalyn taught elementary school for more than 30 years in the Odessa, Albany, Electra, Perrin and Mineral Wells school districts. She enjoyed singing old southern gospel songs, sewing, cooking and gardening. Evalyn was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Texas Classroom Teacher Association board of directors and First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenice and Cappi Jane Rusnak; four grandchildren, Wess McDonald, Ted McDonald, Seth Rusnak and Joshua Rusnak; and three great-grandchildren, Shara McDonald, Jenna McDonald and Brayden McDonald.
She is predeceased by her husband, Morris Tabb; son, Jim Tabb; her parents; and two brothers, Alvis (Easy) Eason and Charles (Pinky) Eason.
