Diann Sue Peterson Rivers, of Mineral Wells, Texas died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at home following a nine-month battle with cancer.
Diann was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 14, 1949, to Harold M. and Melba Neff Peterson. She was married in 1970 and had four sons; being their mom was her greatest joy in life. Diann lived in the Quad Cities area until she moved to Texas with her family in 1983. She received an education/speech degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and later a nursing degree from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. Diann worked as a NICU nurse at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth, and OB nurse and home health nurse at PPGH in Mineral Wells. She later had a second career as a realtor. She married the love of her life, Bill Rivers, on Feb. 14, 2011 after an almost 20-year relationship. Diann is survived by her husband, Bill; sons and daughters-in-law: Matthew and Amy Carpenter of Fort Worth, Timothy and Lindsay Carpenter of Aledo, Joseph and Christi Carpenter of Fort Worth, Philip and Bridget Carpenter of Watauga; grandchildren: Jack and Anna Carpenter of Fort Worth, Max and Ian Carpenter of Aledo, and Harold Carpenter of Watauga; her mother Melba Peterson of Davenport, Iowa; her sister and brother-in-law Leann and Ron Barth of Wichita, Kansas; nephews Brad Barth of Kansas City and Derek Barth of Wichita; her lifelong best friend Pam Schwindt of Sacramento; and her beloved pets: Suki, Lucy and Simone.
