Russell Dean “Paw” Martin

January 7, 2014 Russell Dean “Paw” Martin/ Rat D 64 of Mineral Wells made his Grand Appearance at the Pearly Gates on the VIP, list to attend the big party in the sky with his Lord and Savior.

Russell Dean came into this world January 6, 1950. He was born to Eual & Winona Walker Martin, in Paris, Texas. Early childhood days were spent exploring what was then the wide open spaces of Cowtown (Fort Worth, Texas). Many days were spent atop his favorite bicycle; riding to the local swimming pool and on the creek beds of the Trinity River. He loved being outside admiring the great outdoors. The Martin Family left Fort Worth in 1961and made their debut in Mineral Wells. They built lasting memories and numerous life long friendships. Russell attended school in Mineral Wells. He lived out his passion for riding bulls while frequenting all the rodeos with his great friends & family. The 1970’s brought on a new found love for Russell Dean. He became a member of the pipe fitters local union, traveling  many miles across the US burning rods as a welder. In 1982 he and Cindy Storm Martin Pierce became parents to their only child, Michele Martin Slemmons. Russell Dean was a very unique man; from his stylish dress, to his free living spirit,he never met a stranger, willing to help anyone, and always wore a smile as big as the brim of his hat. Russell’s mother and father Winona (1922-2013) & Eual (1912-2000) were awaiting his arrival with open arms.

His loyal fan club still includes: one daughter and son-in-law: Kevin and Michele Martin Slemmons, four awesome, beautiful grandchildren that he thought the world of: Selek, Slade, Stelei & Stockton.  Other family members include: brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Val Martin, one Niece, Megan Martin Hudson and husband Willy, one Great Nephew, Benjamin Daniel Hudson, 1 Aunt, Mozelle Martin Ray,  numerous cousins & many, many dear friends.

A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday Feb. 8, 2014 at the VFW in Mineral Wells 1-3 p.m.
