Dorothy Agnes VanNatta

— Dorothy Agnes VanNatta,  91, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at her home in Mineral Wells, surrounded by her family and friends. She was called Mother, Grandmother, Gran and GiGi by her loving family.

Service:  Saturday 2pm, Southside Church of Christ, Rev. Barry Holmes, Rev. Margie Holmes, Rev. William Eudy officiating, internment will be at the Woodland Park Cemetery, visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m. at Baum Carlock Bumgardner funeral home.

Dorothy was born Feb. 5, 1923 in Snyder, OK, the daughter of Malcom and Zelda Pyle Bryson.  She was raised on what is now the Rhodes Ranch, on the Brazos River. She attended Mineral Wells, and Palo Pinto Schools. She married J.T. VanNatta on Nov. 17, 1939 in Weatherford, Texas. She was a faithful member of the Palo Pinto United Methodist Church and the Central Methodist Church in Mineral Wells. After their retirement they enjoyed traveling and camping with their numerous friends. She worked for Southern Airways, and was the bookkeeper for J.T.’s cab company in Midland-Odessa, Chrysler Dealership in Mineral Wells, Trucking Company and the ranch in Lone Camp.  Her most cherished activity was staying home and raising her three children.  After J.T.’s death in 2009, crocheting, playing cards and enjoying her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren were her favorite activities.  Then at the young age of 88 she decided to take up oil painting.  

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jack & Gwen VanNatta, of Owasso, Okla., Jerry and Ronda VanNatta of Mineral Wells, and daughter Linda Fischer of Mineral Wells.  Grandchildren, David & Trina VanNatta & Jimmy and Donna Olivier, all of Collinsville, Okla., Kim-John and Leah VanNatta, of  Mineral Wells, Amy and Robert Coker of Mineral Wells, Brent & Chanda Burleson of  Frisco, Amy Tomerlin of Mineral Wells, Erika and Michael Brooking of Killeen, and Morgan Fischer of Weatherford, Texas., a favorite niece Judy and Bo Bullard of Forney, Texas., 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T., parents, and brother, Marvin Bryson.
