Lenora was born March 4, 1915, on the Dodson Prairie family farm as a quiet snow covered the yard and surrounding pastures. She loved the gently rolling land, and even as a child, desired one day to build her own house on a knoll in the pasture where the milk cows grazed.

Lenora loved to study and learn new things, and attended Dodson Prairie’s Springer Gap School through grade 7, and continued her education at Strawn High School. She completed her college course work at Ranger Junior College and University of Texas at Austin. She began teaching at Lake Creek School, and then Robinson School, both one-room schoolhouses on Dodson Prairie. lt was during a community play at Lake Creek School that she became reacquainted with Hermon Boyd, whom she later married on Christmas Day, 1940.

Hermon and Lenora moved to New Mexico, and then to West Texas towns of Kermit and Goldsmith. Here they raised their family of nine children. After 33 years in West Texas, they retired to Dodson Prairie and built their home on the knoll of the Teichman farm that Lenora had selected during her youth.
