Mary Frances Wilson

Mary Frances Wilson, 93, died July 24, 2012.

Service is 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Central United Methodist Church, 1007 S.W. 4th Ave, Mineral Wells, Texas. Rev. Michael Patison will officiate and Rev. Barry Holmes will assist. Pallbearers are David Hopkins, Josh Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, Gary Hopkins, Warren Johnston, Donald Cozby, James Manley and Cody McGee. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, 302 W. Hubbard St.

Released from her earthly bonds, God's beautiful creation, Mary Frances Wilson was freed from the daily toils of life. Whether you knew her as mother, grandmother, wilson, sister, Aunt Frances, "Little Bit," "MF" or Mary Frances, she always answered the call by going above and beyond what she was asked to do. Once she sewed, crocheted and knitted her beautiful works on Earth; now she is free from her pain and physical limitations. Her hands will now be busy with His heavenly designs.

She was born Mary Frances Cozby to Charles Anderson Cozby and Sarah Blanche Clepper on Sept. 26, 1918, in the community of Brad, Texas. With the death of her mother at the age of 16, she became the mother figure for her family, which included two brothers and a 9-month-old sister. Mary Frances was still able to graduate with her Brad High School class on April 26, 1935, at the age of 17.

She married Manson Austin in 1940. At the age of 27 she became one of the many widows as a result of World War II. Later, Mary Frances married Manson's brother, Willie Austin. That marriage lasted 21 years until his death. Mary Frances married Kenneth Wilson in 1974.

Mary Frances' work experience included Marsden Shoe Store, JB White Department Store and Lister's Pharmacy. Her work at Lister's Pharmacy gave her the opportunity to meet many members of the community while she delivered prescriptions. The closing of the pharmacy brought about her retirement at the age of 80.

After retiring she was still looking for service to do, so her attention turned to the Mineral Wells Senior Center. Her volunteer work there continued until the time of her death.

Mary Frances and her family were longtime members of Central United Methodist Church. Some of her activities included the W.S.G., the choir, pre-school Sunday school teacher and numerous committee positions.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hopkins; son-in-law, Joe Hopkins; grandson, David Hopkins; great-grandsons, Josh and Ryan Hopkins; and great-granddaughter, Jaclyn Hopkins, all of Midland, Texas; grandson-in-law, Warren Johnston, of Justin, Texas; sister, Blanche Ladd. of Mineral Wells; sister-in-law, Margaret Cozby, of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepson, Bob Wilson, of Los Angeles; step-grandsons, Roger Wilson and Rick Wilson; and step-granddaughter, Kim Wilson. Last but certainly not least beloved Benji along with a number of nieces, nephews and great -nieces and great-nephews are all among her survivors, as well as a host of friends too numerous to mention.

Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Manson Austin, Willie Austin and Kenneth Wilson; brothers, Charles Cozby and Cal Cozby; and her beloved granddaughter, Mary Beth Hopkins Reddell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
