Janie Mata Alvarez, 65, of Mineral Wells, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at a Fort Worth hospital. Memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, June 22, at 10 a.m., with Father Balaji officiating.
Janie was born Oct. 20, 1947, in Coleman, Texas, to Trinidad and Jovita Mata. She married Johnny Alvarez Nov. 11, 1967, in Wichita Falls and was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include husband, Johnny Alvarez Sr., “45 years together my heart will hold you close everyday in love with my one and only true love until we are together once again”; children: Christina Crews, Albert Fernandez, Johnny Alvarez Jr., Vickie Duncan, and husband, Steve; grandchildren: Adam Crews, Corey Crews and Mia Duncan; great-grandchildren: A.J. Crews, Joe'l Crews, Aaleighn, Julius, Selena, Maximus and Brendan Crews; siblings: Mary Anguiano and husband, Ralph, Jovita Barton and husband, Joe, Miquela Moreno and husband, Robert, Tim Mata and wife, Sue, Bennie Mata and wife, Stacey, Israel, Freddie, Ray and Phillip. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Trinidad and Jovita Mata; sister, Stella Gonzales; brother, Rudy Mata; daughter, Christine Crews; and great-grandchild, Corey Crews Jr.
The family welcomes all to attend the memorial service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Saturday.
