— Bill Singletary went to his eternal home on Thursday, March 28, at his home in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born in Niceville, Fla., and in 1957 married Barbara, his loving companion of 56 years, and had two children, Kimberly and Kent.
After his service in the U.S. Army he attended the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.
In the years that followed Bill succeeded in retail, investment brokerage, and his own business in job-fit assessment. He was an “honored member” of Sugar Land Rotary, “honored lifetime member” of the Greater Houston Chamber of Commerce, and treasured his Thursday morning men’s bible study group.
In all things Bill was “larger than life.” His ability to love easily and his gift of generosity made him a natural leader who was confident enough to follow, and with an endearing ability to laugh at himself. He would like to be remembered as someone who “Did the best he could with what he had at the time, for the most benefit to others.”
Bill was predeceased by daughter, Kimberly Jewell Singletary and is survived by wife, Barbara Singletary; son, Kent Singletary; grandson, Duncan Singletary; brother Fred Singletary (Era); and numerous nieces, nephews and in laws.
A visitation with family will be held on Monday, April 1, 6-8 p.m., at Sugar Land Mortuary, 1818 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, Texas. A Memorial Service will follow on Tuesday, April 2, 10 a.m., at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church 321 Eldridge Rd., Sugar Land, with a reception to follow in Great Hall.
