Veneita Tuggle Russell, 96, passed away May 17, 2014, in a Mineral Wells hospital.
Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel. Burial will follow in Sturdivant Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Eastland County, the daughter of Jesse Lee and Rosa Catherine Harris James. She was a longtime resident of Mineral Wells and a member of 11th Avenue Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She worked as a supervisor in the sewing room at Perry Equipment for 30 years. She was a charter member of the Mineral Wells High School Historical Preservation Committee for the old high school building.
She married Wesley Tuggle on Oct. 18, 1940, in Mineral Wells, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1973. She married Clide T. Russell in Granbury and he preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, Melody Joy Tuggle Carroll, of Mineral Wells; grandchildren and spouses, Wesley and Kim Young, of Tolar, Shawn and Michelle Young, of Mineral Wells, and Monica and Stephen Hartt, of Aledo, great-grandchildren, Blake, Wesli, Mckenzie, Kendal, Morgan, Audra and Lexton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and four sisters.
