— Ursuline M. (Miller) Whitney was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Metamora, Ill., to John W. and Christina (Halm) Miller.
She was called home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2013.
She moved to Peoria at age 11 and graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in June 1933.
She moved to Sheridan, Ill., and was a bookkeeper at the Sheridan National Bank until she married Roy D. Whitney, Feb. 7, 1937, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Rectory in Peoria.
Son David L Whitney was born Oct. 29, 1938. Daughter Patricia Ann Whitney was born Sept. 12, 1942.
Ursuline worked with Roy at Alexander Lumber Company in Sheridan from 1947 until they both moved to Aurora in 1968 to work at the District Office until they retired in 1974. They moved to Mineral Wells Dec. 13, 1974. Ursuline was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she and Roy volunteered on many church and community projects.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John A. and Henry A. Miller; five sisters: Agnes Gordon in Illinois, Mary WeIte in Wisconsin, Dorothea Miller in Illinois, Constance Drake in California, Joan (Miller) Flanigen of Annapolis, Md.; her daughter, Patricia Ann (Whitney) Mietzner of Arizona. She is survived by her son, David L. Whitney, and daughter-in-law, Annette L.(Carroll) Whitney, of San Antonio. She has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Baum Carlock Bumgardner. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday during the visitation.
