Curt worked for the WPA in various locations including Morris B Shepherd Dam at PK Lake. They returned to Graford to start farming and raising a family. She was a very devoted wife and mother and participated at church, school and with her children’s activities. She and Curt worked very hard and overcame lots of hardships during these hard times. She always delivered lunch to the Held which she cooked every morning during planting/harvest times. We called it a picnic. They loved taking their children to the drive-in movie and making ice cream with long time friends. Her Dad and brothers always knew when she was baking pies and they would just happen to stop by. Her mother and sisters shared many laughs. One of her favorite things was to tell about the fun things she and her cousins did at her grandmother and grandfather’s place on Kinder Mountain, a place she loved. Curt died August 02, 1977. They were married 37 years. She loved to play or coach softball especially her granddaughter’s team and was on the Mepco-Electra team as a pitcher. Another past time she enjoyed was square dancing. She served as Mrs. President of “The Palo Pinto Promenaders.” She married Loyd Weldon on May 07, 1983. They would enjoy many happy times square dancing and making new friends. She worked for Mepco-Electra for 30 years, She retired as a purchasing agent in. Purchasing in 1986. She was affectionately know as “Granny” and was loved by many. She and Loyd enjoyed going to Ruidoso, NM during the summers to live. Fond memories of new friends they acquired while working at Ruidoso Downs and the good times they had dancing at the Win, Place or Show Club. She was a busy grandmother, taking all the grandkids to Six Flags, Sandy Beach at Possum Kingdom Lake, Ranger ballgames or to The Bunkhouse in Ruidoso, N.M. Her grandchildren have wonderful memories of their adventures with their “Granny.” She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graford for many years and currently is a member at Oran Baptist Church. Her faith was strengthened as her family continued to deal with the loss of family members and good friends. The loss of two grandsons (Nov. 1996) and Loyd (Jan. 1997) were very difficult for her. She was like a rock foundation during these times. She remained devoted to her family. In 2008 she moved to Palo Pinto Nursing Center and lived there until her death. The family would like to thank this facility for the loving care she received while a resident. She was a loving, generous, hard working woman who loved her family passionately and Graford, was the only place she ever wanted to live. She was deeply proud of her involvement with anything regarding Graford Ex-Student Homecoming Association which she proudly served as Secretary/Treasurer for 25 years and the Ex-Student Scholarship Fund. She was one of the original founding members. Classmates and school friends were often fondly remembered. Christmas time was her favorite time of the year. Other interests included gardening, baking cakes, cooking country breakfasts for her family, writing about Kinder Mountain and helping anyone she could. She will be forever loved and missed by many. Devoted to Family. But in the light of Jesus’ birth, Christmas can be a wonderful time to die - because what greater gift could a loved one receive than the key to the new and perfect life that Christ lived and died for on our behalf?

  • Sunburn isn't the only sign of summer that can leave you itchy and blistered

You've got a rash. You quickly rule out the usual suspects: You haven't been gardening or hiking or even picnicking, so it's probably not a plant irritant such as poison ivy or wild parsnip; likewise, it's probably not chiggers or ticks carrying Lyme disease; and you haven't been swimming in a pond, which can harbor the parasite that causes swimmer's itch.
