Norma Joyce (Hall) Boatright died Nov. 14, 2013, at Odyssey Hospice in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 87.
She will be interred at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells in a graveside ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
Norma was born March 1, 1926 in Farmersville, Texas to Clyde Hall and Cennie Mabel (Owens) Hall. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1943, and married her life-long soul mate William Harold (Boaty) Boatright on June 1, 1944 in Chicago, shortly before he shipped out to the Pacific. After the war, Boaty worked for the FAA and Norma stayed home to raise their three sons. Norma and Boaty lived for many years in Northern Virginia and San Antonio.
Boaty preceded Norma in death in 2006.
Norma was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially if a poker game was involved. She liked movies and soap operas and the family knew not to interrupt her while her “show” was on. She was always a lady first and foremost, very feminine, very proper, but with a sweet nature that made everyone who knew her love her dearly.
She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Randall and Janet Boatright, Russell and Catherine Boatright and Rory and Hollis Boatright; her beloved niece Beverly Henson who was like the daughter she never had, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
