From staff reports
The Mineral Wells Art Association will meet Tuesday for business and to present tips on depicting animals in painting, drawing, even in photography.
After a business meeting, which begins at 6 p.m., the art association will host a demonstration, beginning at 7 p.m., by Libby Cluett, addressing ways to approach depictions of animals, including horses and pets, by examining their anatomy and characteristics.
Much like sketching out a face or body when making a human portrait, artists will be encouraged to investigate the geometric shapes, angles and curves of animals and better understand how they take up space.
The association welcomes the public and prospective members – pretty much anyone who wants to make or learn about art – at all meetings, which take place the evening of the third Tuesday of the month.
Tuesday's meeting will be held at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 511 E. Hubbard St., in Mineral Wells.
MWAA members gather twice weekly at Fuzzy's Taco Shop to paint – on Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Thursday afternoons, 1-4 p.m. Again, visitors and prospective members are encouraged to join these sessions.
